FANUC CRX — the closest all-round alternative

The CRX is the alternative that most directly rivals Universal Robots as a general-purpose cobot. It is easy to program, offers a range of payloads and reaches, and is backed by FANUC's very large industrial service and support network — an advantage for shops that need fast field response or already run FANUC industrial arms. UR's ecosystem of certified accessories is still broader, but for all-round capability plus service, the CRX is the natural first comparison.

Doosan — the payload range play

Doosan's M-series covers the familiar cobot payload band, while the H-series pushes to roughly 25 kg — among the highest payloads in the collaborative class and above most of UR's line-up short of the UR30. Techman TM — built-in vision as standard

Kassow Robots — 7 axes and long reach

7-axis / dexterous · 5–18 kg · up to 1.8 m

Kassow's arms add a seventh axis and offer some of the longer reaches in the cobot class, letting them work around obstacles and into positions where a 6-axis UR arm's reach or wrist articulation falls short. That extra dexterity suits confined or awkward work envelopes. The trade-off is more complex motion planning and programming than a 6-axis arm, and a smaller ecosystem than UR's.

The cobot is a platform, not a solution.

Whichever cobot you choose — UR or an alternative — the arm on its own does not do the job. It still needs end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) sized to your parts, application software that turns motion into a working process, and a safety assessment for collaborative or fenced operation.
